Another visit

Wednesday evening, I brought Natascha and Marvin to the bus station and on Thursday evening, I went there again to pick up Silke and Woppi. This time, I thought, everything would go smoothliy, as I finally remembered the way (last time I drove around Oslo for 45 minutes without finding the parking at Central station - damn all the one-way-streets and traffic chaos in Oslo!) - however, I had to find out that the only route I knew was closed due to street construction... Aaaaahhhh! Again, I started off into the maze of one-way-streets and roundabouts, but amazingly, I somehow managed to take the right turn at the right time and there i was at the bus station. Uff...
On friday night, I took them out to the famous meat-market in Oslo: Onkel Donald (not related to the other famous meat-place Mc Donald, though). I hope they enjoyed it despite the high alcohol prices and deafening music volume. Luckily enough, we had a nice vorspiel at home and were drunk enough to throw ourselves into a Norwegian party night. After Onkel Donald, we went to the Beer Palace, where Jens learnt that drinking with Germans is not an easy task and definitely a win-loose situation (where the latter stands for Norwegians, sorry...) However, we had a very amusing way home with a rather drunk Norwegian entertainer :-)
Saturday, we had been invited to a Serbian-Norwegian Christmas party. This, again, was quite a culturally enlightening eveing for my German friends. We all know that Feuerzangenbowle (which I prepared that evening) is quite strong alcohol, but none of us had expected that it would drive some Norwegians to drink the rest of the "good old Pott Rum" straight out of the bottle... Iiiihhh. In the end, one of the guys spent quite a long time next to the sink drinking one glass of water after the other, though...
I wish I knew how to post videos here, cause the dancing that was going on after everyone had had more than enough, was award-winning!

Before I sent Silke and Woppi off to going skiing in Hemsedal, I showed them the end of the world and we had great British stew for dinner (thanks Cecilia!).

As you can all imagine, after this exhausting weekend, the next week of working was more than hard... God, am i looking forward to the holidays!!!!!!

P.S. Here you can see the two of them cooking - what a rare event ;-)

A weekend in Hemsedal

oder "Wie der versuch meine deutschen Freunde zu Langlaufenthusiasten zu machen kläglich gescheitert ist"

To make a long weekend short - we had a really great and relaxing time in Hemsedal. Ok, I know that Natascha would object at this point, as she would never agree that the two hours which I dragged them through norwegian snowy landscape, on cross-country skis (!), were relaxing... And on the first day, Marvin didn't really agree either - anyway, I found it very beautiful, and amusing to watch my friends fight their way through the sno, disputing with the sticks and having to cope with far too long and thin skis (without "Kanten") -oh my God:-) It somehow reminded me of my first day of cross-country, where a crazy Austrian cross-country enthusiast and an even crazier German new-born cross country enthusiast, dragged me for 20 km (!!!!!!) through and up- and downhill norwegian winter forest, where I fell a thousand times (in the end caused by pure exhaustion), where my skis went back down the hill without me and where I nearly peed in my pants when i had to go down that steep hill(s)... and the only support I got for my efforts was "Solange sie noch schimpfen und meckern kann gehts ihr gut."
At least I was nice, and my friends only had to keep their spirits up for 8 km. Damn, I'm too kind...
The rest of our activities, however, was VERY relaxing: Sauna, Shower, Sauna, Shower, Sauna, Shower, Eating, Drinking, Poker, Sauna, Snow, Sauna, Snow, Eating, Drinking, Poker, ...

Hemsedal continued

But as I said, I found it truly amazing:

und zwei die sich mal hingelegt haben...mehr und weniger freiwillig...

An dieser Stelle schon mal ein fettes Dankeschön an Natascha und Marvin dafür dass sie hier waren und so lecker gekocht haben und mit mir langlaufen waren und klettern usw. DANKE :-)

Hemsedal the 3rd - the relaxing part

As I said, most of the whole thing was relaxing... and eating... oh, jetzt hätt ich doch fast "dumm schauen" vergessen ;-) Sorry schonmal für dieses Bild ins Netz stelllen, aber das war einfach zu verlockend :-)

Geburtstagsschlemmerei

It was my birthday on Thursday, and although I am now unfortunately closer to thirty than to twenty, I decided not to let this sad event dampen my mood but instead celebrate my increasing maturity with a very mature food-party.
And then I introduced my foreign friends to the art of Feuerzangenbowle. And they loved it. Sooooo exciting!!!!

Norwegian "pampf" and German "Pampf" - guess which on is which...:
